FARLEYCOPSE
CHAROLAIS

The Farleycopse Herd began on the 3rd November 1976 with the purchase of two in calf heifers from the show and sale at Bingley Hall, Staffordshire. These were Delamere Javotte, and Jeunette (a heifer imported by the Charolais Society). Since moving to Drungewick Hill Farm in the spring of 1984 the herd has expanded to its current size of 45 pedigree cows.

Many sires have been used over the years, the most influential being Balthayock Longbow (Dingle Hofmeister x Balthayock Etoile), purchased privately from Major Walter after being seen as a calf on its dam. Longbow has bred consistently fleshy good ended clean cattle not only for ourselves but for other breeders who have used him. He is very easy calving. Sons have been sold to 11,000gns and stood 1st in Perth.

Brampton Oyster (Brampton Ace x Brampton Galaxy) then followed Longbow, being bought in Perth for 10,000gns standing 2nd to the Supreme Champion. After serving only a handful of cows we unfortunately lost him, which is even more disappointing as his only son Farleycopse Solitaire stood Junior and Supreme Champion Perth Feb. 2003 and sold for 11,000gns.

At Perth Feb 2004 Farleycopse Turbo stood first in his class and went on to make the top price of 28,000gns as herd sire to Jimmy Wilson's Ugie herd. Farleycopse Turbo also sold for 11,000gns.

At Perth October 2005 we purchased our new stock bull, Maerdy Vamp, sired by Nectergerc, for 9,000gns.
